WP4 – Risk (Lead Barry Gardiner, IEFC)

To adapt stand management to risks of wind- and snow damage, forest managers need models that in a realistic way reflects how different stand densities and thinning regimes affect tree stability. In turn, this needs to be combined the best available climate scenarios and information on soil characteristics and the wind exposure of the stand. In this WP. We will parameterize the wind- and snow risk model ForestGALES to Norwegian conditions.  Model predictions will be validated using data from both long-term field measurements and repeated acquisitions of single-tree airborne laser scanning data.
