Last year Spain closed its worst year ever for forest fires. According to official figures, 4 out of every 10 hectares burnt in the EU were on Spanish soil, with all that this entails seriously affecting many aspects of our lives and environment. Southern Europe in particular is suffering more and more fires with virulent and less controllable characteristics.
In the course “Forest Fires: How to face them”, organised by the Union of Forest Foresters of Southern Europe and Basoa Fundazioa within the framework of the summer courses of the UPV-EHU (Public University of the Basque Country), we will analyse different areas of knowledge of fire and we will go deeper into its impact and how to face them.
This event is aimed at the general public, university students, non-university students, teachers, professionals, forest owners and environmental groups.
The meeting can be followed in person or online. It will be in Spanish but there will be simultaneous translation into English and French.
