Precise assessment of forest productivity (site index) is vital for the decision-making on a broad range of silvicultural actions, such as choice of planting density, whether to thin or not, choosing the economically optimal harvesting age, and so forth. With a changing climate, forest productivity will likely also change, which in turn requires new approaches to site index modelling. In this WP the aim is to develop a new age-independent site index modelling approach using repeated acquisitions of single tree airborne laser scanning data.
