The development of EFI Regional Offices continues. The latest office to open its doors is the ‘Observatory for European Forests (EFICENT-OEF)’ in Nancy, France, which is an integral part of the EFI Central European Regional Office EFICENT. The core funding for the establishment of the EFICENT-OEF and starting its first activities is provided, for the next three years, by four different French donors: the French Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Urban Community of Greater Nancy, the Regional Council of Lorraine and the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA). Dr. Aljoscha Requardt, the Manager of the EFICENT-OEF, started his work at the beginning of September. He moved to his new position from the Institute for World Forestry, University of Hamburg (UHH), Germany, where he has been a Scientist and Deputy Head of the institute research unit “International Forest Development and Forest Policy”.
