Rethinking pinewood nematode control in declining forest

The pinewood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, is a highly damaging pathogen of pine trees. Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster), in particular, has been shown to be extremely susceptible, and declining trees in the field typically harbor high nematode densities.

BOSPIR-3D: launch of a cross-border project for the Pyrenean forest of the future

On 21 and 22 April 2026, the partners of the European BOSPIR-3D project gathered in Solsona, at the Centre de Ciència i Tecnologia Forestal de Catalunya, for the official launch of the project. This first meeting brought together representatives from IEFC, HAZI, ARI and the CTFC, highlighting the strong cross-border dimension of this initiative dedicated to Pyrenean forests.
