Imagine que \u00e9 um p\u00e1ssaro a sobrevoar a Europa. Veria cidades e aldeias, rios, paisagens agr\u00edcolas e florestas cobrindo quase um ter\u00e7o do territ\u00f3rio. Poderia ver muitos tipos diferentes de \u00e1rvores: verde escuras ou mais avermelhadas, retas e altas, largas e torcidas ou pequenas e esguias, com muitas formas diferentes de folhas ou agulhas. Voando sobre a Europa, tamb\u00e9m encontraria \u00e1reas florestais danificadas, queimadas ou destru\u00eddas por escolit\u00eddeos; e folhas de \u00e1rvores afetadas pela polui\u00e7\u00e3o atmosf\u00e9rica e pragas de insetos desfolhadores , ou que ficam amarelas e castanhas devido \u00e0 seca. Globalmente, estas perturba\u00e7\u00f5es est\u00e3o a tornar-se mais frequentes e graves, quer devido \u00e0 falta de vis\u00e3o de algumas interven\u00e7\u00f5es humanas, quer \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas em curso. Mas nem tudo s\u00e3o m\u00e1s not\u00edcias. Do c\u00e9u veria tamb\u00e9m pessoas a trabalhar nestas florestas danificadas, plantando ou semeando novas \u00e1rvores, ou protegendo do pastoreio a floresta em regenera\u00e7\u00e3o natural. Veria pessoas a preservar \u00e1rvores antigas ou mesmo madeira morta, porque compreenderam como estas s\u00e3o valiosas para o funcionamento do ecossistema. Se tudo for feito corretamente e com um pouco de sorte, desenvolver-se-\u00e1 uma floresta diversificada e saud\u00e1vel, e ser\u00e1 novamente frequentada pelos muitos animais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Embora haja uma\nconsci\u00eancia generalizada da urg\u00eancia de conservar e restaurar a biodiversidade\ne travar as altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas, \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria muito mais a\u00e7\u00e3o no terreno para\nassegurar a prosperidade a longo prazo das florestas europeias. J\u00e1 existe uma\ns\u00e9rie de compromissos pol\u00edticos a n\u00edvel da UE, incluindo o Acordo Verde de\n2019, a Estrat\u00e9gia da UE para a Biodiversidade de 2020 e a Estrat\u00e9gia Florestal\nda UE de 2030. No entanto, em muitos locais, s\u00e3o ainda necess\u00e1rios\ndesenvolvimentos no terreno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dos desafios\n\u00e0s oportunidades<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9 por isso que estamos a lan\u00e7ar o projeto SUPERB<\/a> \u00a0para ” Alargar \u00e0 escala da paisagem \u00a0solu\u00e7\u00f5es sist\u00e9micas que visem o restauro urgente dos ecossistemas para promover a biodiversidade e os servi\u00e7os do ecossistema relacionados com a floresta”. Este projeto de quatro anos \u00e9 liderado por um cons\u00f3rcio de 36 parceiros cient\u00edficos e t\u00e9cnicos de toda a Europa<\/a>[s1]<\/a>\u00a0 e liderado pelo Instituto Europeu da Floresta. O projeto SUPERB<\/a> \u00e9 ainda apoiado por 90 parceiros associados, desde regionais a internacionais, \u00a0, todos com fortes liga\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e0 gest\u00e3o e prote\u00e7\u00e3o das paisagens florestais europeias (por exemplo, minist\u00e9rios da agricultura e prote\u00e7\u00e3o da natureza e ag\u00eancias governamentais de mais de 20 pa\u00edses europeus, associa\u00e7\u00f5es de propriet\u00e1rios florestais, certificadores, doadores, ONG, etc.). A partir de Dezembro de 2021, o SUPERB<\/a> visa restaurar a paisagem florestal, criando um ambiente prop\u00edcio \u00e0 implementa\u00e7\u00e3o do restauro e adapta\u00e7\u00e3o das florestas a diferentes escalas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O SUPERB<\/a> basear-se-\u00e1 nos conhecimentos pr\u00e1ticos e no feedback das atividades de restauro e adapta\u00e7\u00e3o florestal bem sucedidas e infrut\u00edferas e sintetiz\u00e1-los-\u00e1 em a\u00e7\u00f5es concretas. Estabelecer\u00e1 contacto com peritos em restauro florestal, tais como especialistas em projetos LIFE e profissionais com d\u00e9cadas de experi\u00eancia em abordagens de gest\u00e3o alternativa. Este conhecimento pr\u00e1tico ser\u00e1 sustentado por uma compila\u00e7\u00e3o de conhecimentos cient\u00edficos, particularmente sobre os aspetos econ\u00f3micos, de governa\u00e7\u00e3o, de gest\u00e3o florestal e de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas do restauro. No cora\u00e7\u00e3o do SUPERB<\/a>, ser\u00e3o realizadas a\u00e7\u00f5es concretas de restauro em 12 \u00e1reas de teste em grande escala envolvendo v\u00e1rios membros do IEFC (Universidade de Friburgo, INRAe, Forest Research, alian\u00e7a for\u00eat bois e IEFC), localizadas em 13 pa\u00edses diferentes. Estas \u00e1reas n\u00e3o s\u00f3 representam a diversidade de press\u00f5es que afetam os ecossistemas florestais europeus e a vasta gama de a\u00e7\u00f5es de restauro necess\u00e1rias, mas tamb\u00e9m t\u00eam em conta todo o sistema s\u00f3cio-ecol\u00f3gico, incluindo as m\u00faltiplas necessidades da popula\u00e7\u00e3o em termos de bens e servi\u00e7os dos ecossistemas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adotando uma\nabordagem global e multidisciplinar, todas estas iniciativas pr\u00e1ticas e\ncient\u00edficas sobre o restauro florestal permitir\u00e3o a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de linhass orientadoras,\nrecomenda\u00e7\u00f5es e ferramentas facilmente acess\u00edveis no Portal online para o\nRestauro de Ecossistemas direcionado para todas as partes interessadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
