O objetivo deste projeto \u00e9 de identificar esp\u00e9cies de \u00e1rvores\neuropeias que oferecem uma \u00f3tima capacidade de sequestro de carbono no solo,\nr\u00e1pido crescimento das \u00e1rvores e adapta\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dentro do projeto, um work package \u00e9\nespecificamente dedicado ao estudo das rela\u00e7\u00f5es que entre as propriedades das\nesp\u00e9cies (chamadas tra\u00e7os funcionais) envolvidas na regula\u00e7\u00e3o do crescimento\ndas \u00e1rvores e as condi\u00e7\u00f5es ambientais em que crescem. De facto, embora a\nidentidade dos tra\u00e7os funcionais que controlam o crescimento seja relativamente\nbem conhecida (por exemplo, \u00e1rea foliar espec\u00edfica ou densidade xil\u00e9mica da\nmadeira), a forma como a sua import\u00e2ncia varia com o clima e a fertilidade do\nsolo n\u00e3o \u00e9 bem compreendida. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fim de esclarecer esta quest\u00e3o, s\u00e3o\nutilizados dados de v\u00e1rias redes de s\u00edtios experimentais na Europa e Am\u00e9rica do\nNorte. Em particular, um curso Master baseia-se na rede experimental\nREINFFORCE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante o est\u00e1gio, um primeiro passo ser\u00e1 visitar v\u00e1rios arboretos (<a href=\"https:\/\/reinfforce.iefc.net\/arboreta\/ar13\/\"><strong>AR13 <\/strong><\/a>e, em menor medida, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/reinfforce.iefc.net\/arboreta\/ar14\/\">AR14 <\/a><\/strong>e <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/reinfforce.iefc.net\/arboreta\/ar16\/\">AR16<\/a><\/strong>) para recolher amostras de \u00e1rvores (folhagem, ramos, ra\u00edzes) de 23 esp\u00e9cies(*). Estas amostras ser\u00e3o utilizadas para caracterizar os tra\u00e7os funcionais das esp\u00e9cies, e para estudar a plasticidade destes tra\u00e7os para se adaptarem \u00e0s diferentes condi\u00e7\u00f5es locais. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numa segunda fase, os dados de crescimento de\ntoda a rede experimental ser\u00e3o cruzados com as propriedades de cada arboreto\n(clima, solo).
