As florestas plantadas constituem ecossistemas fundamentais para a concretiza\u00e7\u00e3o dos objetivos globais de sustentabilidade, fornecendo recursos madeireiros, sequestrando carbono e restaurando ecossistemas degradados. A maioria das florestas plantadas \u00e9 gerida como monoculturas para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de madeira, sendo, por isso, geralmente mais pobres em biodiversidade do que as florestas naturais. No entanto, as florestas plantadas tamb\u00e9m podem contribuir para a restaura\u00e7\u00e3o e manuten\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade, quando as estrat\u00e9gias de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o desta s\u00e3o integradas na gest\u00e3o florestal. De forma a contribuir para os objetivos internacionais de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o, mantendo simultaneamente as fun\u00e7\u00f5es de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de madeira, \u00e9 cada vez mais exigido que as florestas plantadas cumpram os princ\u00edpios da gest\u00e3o florestal sustent\u00e1vel. Consequentemente, os gestores florestais s\u00e3o cada vez mais chamados a alterar as suas pr\u00e1ticas silviculturais para melhorar a biodiversidade dos povoamentos. Para al\u00e9m da sua import\u00e2ncia para a conserva\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies, a biodiversidade pode ter efeitos positivos na sustentabilidade de muitas fun\u00e7\u00f5es ecossist\u00e9micas, por exemplo, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o prim\u00e1ria, o ciclo de nutrientes e as intera\u00e7\u00f5es tr\u00f3ficas (Messier et al.<\/em> 2022), contribuindo para a resili\u00eancia global dos ecossistemas florestais face aos stress bi\u00f3ticos e abi\u00f3ticos induzidos pelas altera\u00e7\u00f5es globais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A biodiversidade \u00e9 normalmente medida e monitorizada no terreno utilizando indicadores. Os indicadores de biodiversidade podem ser muitos e muito espec\u00edficos do contexto, mas existem indicadores gerais e princ\u00edpios internacionais, por exemplo, os especificados nos esquemas de certifica\u00e7\u00e3o de gest\u00e3o florestal sustent\u00e1vel. No entanto, estes indicadores tendem a centrar-se na biodiversidade per se<\/em> (por exemplo, a diversidade de esp\u00e9cies arb\u00f3reas), sem estabelecer uma liga\u00e7\u00e3o expl\u00edcita com o seu potencial em proporcionar fun\u00e7\u00f5es e servi\u00e7os ecossist\u00e9micos importantes nas florestas plantadas (por exemplo, uma maior resist\u00eancia a pragas gra\u00e7as ao controlo biol\u00f3gico por inimigos naturais que habitam florestas mistas, Jactel et al.<\/em> 2021). Embora exista uma vasta investiga\u00e7\u00e3o sobre os m\u00faltiplos benef\u00edcios de florestas plantadas diversificadas, as perspetivas sociais em torno da relev\u00e2ncia, significado e utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de indicadores comuns de biodiversidade em florestas plantadas n\u00e3o t\u00eam sido tidas em conta. Considerar a forma como as partes interessadas percebem os indicadores de biodiversidade e compreender os desafios na sua utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o pode influenciar a sua monitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o no terreno e, em \u00faltima an\u00e1lise, a pr\u00f3pria gest\u00e3o sustent\u00e1vel das florestas plantadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O objetivo do BIOFUN<\/strong> (financiado pelo fundo da Rede IEFC 2025 no \u00e2mbito das atividades de Capacita\u00e7\u00e3o) \u00e9 explorar a perce\u00e7\u00e3o funcional dos indicadores comuns de biodiversidade em florestas plantadas. Foi elaborado um question\u00e1rio online, dirigido a gestores florestais e cientistas florestais, com o objetivo de explorar a perce\u00e7\u00e3o comum sobre o valor e a rela\u00e7\u00e3o funcional dos indicadores de biodiversidade nas florestas plantadas, quais s\u00e3o os principais obst\u00e1culos \u00e0 sua utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o e que solu\u00e7\u00f5es existem para facilitar a integra\u00e7\u00e3o da biodiversidade na gest\u00e3o das florestas plantadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Os resultados do BIOFUN ser\u00e3o apresentados durante a assembleia geral da IEFC, a realizar-se em 30 de junho de 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
