Actualmente 10 dos 20 Estados que assinaram a conven\u00e7\u00e3o de 2003 j\u00e1 a confirmaram. O EFI encontra-se ent\u00e3o numa posi\u00e7\u00e3o de inst\u00e2ncia europeia de refer\u00eancia nas quest\u00f5es de silvicultura e investiga\u00e7\u00e3o florestal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"corps_article\">Este novo estatuto vem acompanhado das reivindica\u00e7\u00f5es dos estados assinantes, sobretudo se estes contribuem financeiramente. At\u00e9 hoje a integralidade dos recursos fixos do EFI vinham do estado finland\u00eas, logicamente a organiza\u00e7\u00e3o era feita na Finl\u00e2ndia. O estado espanhol declarou-se prestes a contribuir financeiramente para o EFI, depois de negocia\u00e7\u00f5es foi decidido o novo conceito de \u0093Gabinete Regional\u0094. Diferentemente dos centros regionais actuais que n\u00e3o t\u00eam nenhuma liga\u00e7\u00e3o estrutural com o EFI, sen\u00e3o apenas uma conven\u00e7\u00e3o sobre o conte\u00fado das suas actividades a desenvolver, os gabinetes regionais ser\u00e3o os escrit\u00f3rios descentralizados do EFI. Os seus empregados ser\u00e3o empregados do EFI e o dinheiro recuperado para o financiamento destes gabinetes ser\u00e1 gerido pela sede que ficar\u00e1 baseada em Joensuu, Finl\u00e2ndia.
