SUMMARY:Joint Conference of COST Action Urban Tree Guard (CA20132) and EPPO ‘Biosecurity and Surveillance of Quarantine Pests of Trees in Forests and Cities’
DESCRIPTION:EPPO in collaboration with a COST Action Urban Tree Guard (CA20132) is organizing a joint conference ‘Biosecurity and Surveillance of Quarantine Pests of Trees in Forests and Cities’. \n\n\n\nThe conference will cover a broad range of topics related to forest biosecurity\, with a particular focus on surveillance for quarantine pests of trees in forests and urban environments. \n\n\n\nThemes include: \n\n\n\n\nbiosecurity strategies to prevent the introduction and spread of pests in urban environments\,\n\n\n\ncurrent practices and challenges faced by National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs) in surveillance for quarantine pests of trees\,\n\n\n\ninnovative tools and solutions for surveillance\, detection\, identification\, and monitoring of pests of trees in forests and urban environments\,\n\n\n\ntree resistance and vulnerability\,\n\n\n\nstakeholder perspectives: communities\, professionals\, and authorities in urban tree health\,\n\n\n\neducation and awareness: promoting knowledge and action on tree health and biosecurity\,\n\n\n\npolicy and decision-making frameworks that support biosecurity of trees and woodlands in urban contexts.\n\n\n\n\nThe conference will take place on September 8–10\, 2025 in Carcavelos\, Portugal. \n\n\n\nEPPO invites NPPOs to take part in this conference\, to share best practices and discusschallenges encountered in surveillance for quarantine pests of trees in your countries. \n\n\n\nThe conference announcement and registration link can be found in the EPPO calendar (https://eppo.int/MEETINGS/calendar) and on the website of the COST Action. \n\n\n\nhttps://ub3guard.eu/news/registration-and-abstract-submission-now-open-joint-conference-cost-action-urban-tree-guard-ca20132-and-eppo \n\n\n\nRegistration is open until 30th of June 2025. If attendees want to give oral or poster presentations on the listed themes\, they should upload their abstracts during registration. \n\n\n\nThe attendees are invited to deliver oral or poster presentations. When registering\, participants will be asked to provide a title and short abstract (optional).
