Chaque visite comprendra la visite d’un GO du pays hôte et présentera les activités et les développements de trois GO différents en présence de leurs représentants. Les participants découvriront alors de nouvelles connaissances et pratiques dans les secteurs de la foresterie et de l’agroforesterie qu’ils pourront transférer à leur tour dans leur propre pays. \n\n\n\nVous êtes vivement invités à vous inscrire rapidement aux visites d’étude thématiques de votre choix. DESCRIPTION:On the wake of Storm Eowyn – which occurred this year on 24 January 2025 and brought unprecedented wind speeds and widespread disruption across Ireland – forest landscapes have suffered significant damage across the country. \n\n\n\nThis webinar\, organized under SUPERB project’s “Forest Restoration Talks” series in collaboration with the European Integrate Network\, TRANSFORMIT project and FoRISK facility\, brings together forestry professionals\, environmental scientists\, policymakers\, and a landowner to examine the extent and nature of the storm-related damage in Ireland as well as look at other European examples of major forest disturbances. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore the immediate impacts\, assess longer-term ecological and economic implications\, and discuss practices for recovery\, resilience planning and climate adaptation measures. \n\n\n\nKey Themes and Questions: \n\n\n\n\nHow can we better deal with future disturbances across European forests?\n\n\n\nHow do we transform / adapt our forests to make them more climate resilient?\n\n\n\nWhat can we learn from past experiences to recover and restore forests in an integrative way?\n\n\n\nWhat are current preliminary findings on storm damage across different forest types and regions?\n\n\n\nWhat are strategies to salvage logging\, replant and protect biodiversity after storm damage?\n\n\n\nHow can policy and funding from government and EU support recovery?\n\n\n\n\nPanelists: \n\n\n\n– Noel Kelly\, Irish forest owner majorly affected by storm Éowyn \n\n\n\n– Christophe Orazio from IEFC (Aquitaine\, France) brings in knowledge and expertise on forest risk management and climate change adaptation \n\n\n\n– Jo O’Hara is a professional Chartered Forester\, director of FutureArk Ltd and a non-executive board member of Forestry and Land Scotland. DESCRIPTION:This symposium\, sponsored by IUFRO\, the Systems Analysis community\, and DecisionES project coordinators\, provides a forum for forest systems analysis\, operations research (OR)\, and decision science. It will feature two main types of sessions: technical and practical. The technical presentations will focus on forest management and planning research\, covering topics such as harvest scheduling\, supply chain management\, forest health\, spatial optimization\, wildland fire risk management\, simulation\, stochastic processes\, and forest and fire economics. Meanwhile\, the practical sessions will showcase studies on ecosystem service provision\, global change impacts\, degraded forest restoration\, and more. \n\n\n\nThe conference organizers invite collaborators and speakers from diverse countries and backgrounds.
