El 28 de abril de 2022, una docena de participantes de toda Europa se reunieron en Pistoia (Italia), una de las zonas m\u00e1s importantes de producci\u00f3n de plantas de vivero, para debatir las herramientas desarrolladas por HOMED para la prevenci\u00f3n y detecci\u00f3n de pat\u00f3genos en los \u00e1rboles. El evento, organizado por el IEFC<\/a>, fue dirigido por investigadores del Italian National Research Council<\/a> y fue amablemente acogido por el \u00a0Giorgio Tesi Group<\/a>, uno de los mayores grupos internacionales de viveristas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante el taller, los investigadores presentaron varias herramientas, entre ellas un LAMP port\u00e1til y trampas de esporas. Los participantes en el taller pudieron descubrir m\u00e1s sobre los m\u00e9todos de detecci\u00f3n molecular participando en la recogida de tejidos vegetales, la preparaci\u00f3n de muestras mediante la extracci\u00f3n de ADN y el an\u00e1lisis de los resultados mediante el uso de un dispositivo LAMP port\u00e1til. Este m\u00e9todo se puede utilizar para la detecci\u00f3n de bacterias, insectos, fitoplasma y virus, pero el kit de muestreo utilizado debe adaptarse en funci\u00f3n de la plaga buscada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La bacteria Xylella fastidiosa fue elegida como objetivo para la demostraci\u00f3n del taller y, afortunadamente, no se encontraron rastros de esta bacteria en las muestras tomadas de los \u00e1rboles del vivero. Adem\u00e1s, los investigadores de HOMED ampliaron el alcance del instrumento LAMP dise\u00f1ando cebadores espec\u00edficos para la detecci\u00f3n de Fusarium circinatum, Phytophtora ramorum o Gnomoniopsis smithogilvyi. Su demostraci\u00f3n participativa puso de manifiesto la sencillez en el uso de la herramienta y su rapidez (resultados en s\u00f3lo 30 minutos). Sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n demostr\u00f3 que la herramienta no es lo suficientemente sencilla como para ser utilizada de forma aut\u00f3noma por los t\u00e9cnicos de los viveros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s, se presentaron dos muestreos aerobiol\u00f3gicos para el seguimiento de las esporas que circulan en el aire. Los resultados de las muestras se analizar\u00e1n con un m\u00e9todo qPCR para detectar la presencia de un pat\u00f3geno. Se compararon los dos captadores de esporas para reconocer las ventajas de cada uno e identificar sus condiciones ideales de funcionamiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por \u00faltimo, este evento fue tambi\u00e9n una oportunidad para presentar el pr\u00f3ximo centro de conocimiento HOMED, que incluir\u00e1 todas las herramientas y los conocimientos cient\u00edficos producidos por el proyecto para ayudar a las partes interesadas en la gesti\u00f3n de plagas y pat\u00f3genos emergentes.
