Desde el mes de septiembre del 2005, el EFI no es una asociaci\u00f3n de derechos finlandeses sino una organizaci\u00f3n intergubernamental. Hoy, diez de los veinte estados que firmaron la convenci\u00f3n del EFI en 2003 lo han ratificado. El EFI se encuentra por tanto en posici\u00f3n de instancia europea teniendo como referencia las cuestiones silv\u00edcolas y de investigaci\u00f3n forestal.<\/p>\n

Este nuevo estatu viene acompa\u00f1ado de reinvindicaciones de los estados signatarios, y sobretodo de aquellos que aportan el financiamiento. Hasta la presente, la totalidad de los ingresos fijos del EFI proven\u00edan del estado finland\u00e9s, y seg\u00fan la l\u00f3gica la direcci\u00f3n de este organismo debe residir en Finlandia. El estado espa\u00f1ol se declar\u00f3 dispuesto a contribuir financieramente al EFI. Tr\u00e1s negociaciones se lleg\u00f3 al concepto de \u0093Office Regional\u0094. A diferencia de los centros regionales actuales que no tienen ninguna cohesi\u00f3n con el EFI, salvo una convenci\u00f3n sobre el contenido de las actividades que se desarrrolla, las oficinas regionales ser\u00e1nlos despachos descentralizados del EFI. El personal que trabajara ser\u00e1 el personal del EFI y el dinero apartado para el financiamiento de estas oficinas ser\u00e1 gestionado por la sede que tiene su base en Joensuu en Finlandia. Es por ello que en Catalu\u00f1a seguir\u00e1 coexistiendo el Centro Regional MEDFOREX y la Oficina Regional EFIMED.<\/p>\n
