Entre las amenazas m\u00e1s preocupantes que afectan a los ecosistemas forestales mundiales se encuentra el nematodo de la madera del pino (NMP, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus<\/em> (Steiner y Buhrer) Nickle), el agente causal de la enfermedad del marchitamiento del pino. En Europa, la gesti\u00f3n eficaz de esta plaga requiere estrategias integrales de regulaci\u00f3n y seguimiento, que incluyen la recolecci\u00f3n anual de miles de muestras de madera de \u00e1rboles sintom\u00e1ticos y sus alrededores, la inspecci\u00f3n de materiales de embalaje de madera como pal\u00e9s y la captura del insecto vector, Monochamus spp<\/em>., a trav\u00e9s de redes nacionales.
