La enfermedad del marchitamiento del pino, causada por el nematodo de la madera del pino, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus<\/em>, es una de las principales preocupaciones fitosanitarias de los pinares de todo el mundo. La gesti\u00f3n de la enfermedad del marchitamiento del pino supone una tarea log\u00edstica compleja, de eficacia limitada y con importantes repercusiones ecol\u00f3gicas. La creciente demanda de biosoluciones ha despertado el inter\u00e9s por los antagonistas microbianos capaces de controlar el nematodo. Esteya <\/em>spp. son prometedores agentes f\u00fangicos de biocontrol del nematodo de la madera del pino. En este trabajo se lleva a cabo una caracterizaci\u00f3n integradora de casos aislados de Esteya vermicola<\/em> y Esteya floridanum<\/em> mediante m\u00e9todos biol\u00f3gicos, bioqu\u00edmicos y moleculares, y se ofrece informaci\u00f3n sobre la selecci\u00f3n de estos casos aislados para el control biol\u00f3gico del nematodo de la madera del pino. Los ensayos de doble cultivo revelaron que Esteya <\/em>spp. puede competir con hongos ophiostomatoides (Leptographium terebrantis<\/em> y Ophiostoma ips<\/em>) presentes en el patosistema de la enfermedad del marchitamiento del pino, una perspectiva ecol\u00f3gica a menudo olvidada que podr\u00eda dificultar su \u00e9xito como agentes de biocontrol. Adem\u00e1s, E. vermicola <\/em>puede metabolizar m\u00e1s fuentes de carbono que E. floridanum<\/em>, lo que puede tener implicaciones en su establecimiento con \u00e9xito en los pinos. Nuestro enfoque experimental muestra adem\u00e1s que ambas Esteya <\/em>spp. son igualmente competentes en la supresi\u00f3n del nematodo del pino in vitro<\/em>. En general, nuestros resultados sugieren que una aplicaci\u00f3n profil\u00e1ctica de Esteya <\/em>en pinos puede ser preferible para obtener efectos bioprotectores \u00f3ptimos contra el nematodo de la madera del pino y pat\u00f3genos f\u00fangicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
